We were privileged to join the UQ Moreton Bay Research Station Open Day on Saturday, 10 August, as part of National Science Week. This annual celebration of science and technology is a fantastic opportunity for the Research Station to welcome the public and foster connections between passionate educators, researchers, and the broader community.
The day kicked off with a heartfelt Welcome to Country by Uncle Raymond, setting a meaningful tone for the activities that followed. Attendees had the chance to dive into cultural workshops that offered rich insights into the local heritage, alongside hands-on marine activities that truly brought the wonders of the bay to life. The highlight for many was the time spent aboard our boat with the MBEEC team and Dr. Benjamin Mos, an expert in sustainable aquaculture. His insights into the field added a fascinating dimension to the day's events.
Overall, it was an incredible day filled with learning, exploration, and community spirit. We're already looking forward to next year's Open Day!
