On
the 26th of May, it was MBEEC’s pleasure to host the Moreton Bay Ramsar network
meeting on-board Inspiration and out on gorgeous Moreton Bay (Quandamooka). The
Ramsar Convention was adopted in 1971 and this year marks its 50th anniversary.
The convention aims to halt the worldwide loss of wetlands and to conserve
remaining wetlands through use and careful management. Stakeholders achieved
more than they imagined. Everyone commented that the experience was well beyond
what could be achieved in a meeting room. The deep connections, conversations
and sharing of knowledge was sensational and had the group buzzing as they
disembarked at the end of the day. A big shout out to Patrick Malone from
Healthy Land and Water who organised the program with input from a range of
VIPs discussing initiatives in this special place.
