We were delighted to have the Gumdale SS Year 1 students and teachers join us on site for a play based immersive Cultural Experience Day - a new Moreton Bay EEC program.
This program enabled students to connect to Quandamooka Country through a range of activities, including Indigenous Games; exploring and discovering the magic of bush tucker plants and the wildlife that live within the special pond; and engaging in stories in the yarning circle.
A highlight and special component of the program was enabling children time to engage in a fun-filled interactive song and dance presentation with Aunty Sharron, a proud Wiradjuri Gamilaraay woman. Aunty Sharron is the founder of Indigenous Insights, which focuses on Early Childhood, cultural education and well-being. Students and teachers alike met Aunty Sharron's animal puppet friends including the cheeky Dinbawan-Emu to great delight.
In 2023 we will be running this program at various times during the year. This half day (2.5 hour) program has been expertly crafted enabling it to be conducted with various sized groups. To find out more about this opportunity, please call the Centre on 3906 9111. We would love to have you join us in 2023.
