Moreton Bay EEC partnered with the Metropolitan Early Childhood Education Centre (ECEC) Team to deliver our first Outdoor Classroom Day for 2023 to over 70 excited and enthusiastic children, their teachers and parents.

It was an amazing day of Walking and Learning on Quandamooka Country at the Centre. We were honoured to have Aunty Merle Cashman give the Welcome to Country and connect students with ochre. Quandamooka Cultural Officer, Matt Burns, shared First Nations culture and inspired the children to engage with the local animals through the sounds of the digeridoo and associated actions. Along with painting, discovery and play in our Winnam pond area and indigenous games, the staff from Brisbane City Council libraries shared books, stories and songs with the children.

Why do we love taking learning outdoors? The children's engagement soars; everyone is excited to learn; and individuals who feel inhibited indoors, often thrive outdoors! Every child is positively impacted by a powerful and wonderful way to learn.
