Moreton Bay EEC were thrilled to welcome international students back for exploration and discovery on Quandamooka (Moreton Bay). After a two year absence due to travel restrictions, we thoroughly enjoyed working with Centenary State High School and their visiting students from Japan.
It was a picture perfect day on the bay, with students using science to deepen their understanding of the interconnections between the bay and mangroves. This was achieved by observing plankton and investigating life cycles on St Helena Island (Noogoon). Fort Lytton National Park was the final destination as the group travelled up the Brisbane River to gain some historical insights from Daley, an experienced Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) Ranger. Built in 1881, Fort Lytton, a fortress concealed behind grassy embankments, was used for the defence of Brisbane until the end of the WWII. A wonderful day was had by all and we look forward to having more international visitors join us for discovery and adventure!
