The team at Moreton Bay EEC is excited to welcome all schools and students back for Term 1. We hope you had a restful break and are ready to embark on another exciting and rewarding year of environmental learning.
We are especially excited to start the year with Year 12 students joining us for our Port of Brisbane Studies – Landcover Transformations program. This program offers a unique, hands-on opportunity for students to explore the dynamic changes in our local landscape, with a focus on the impact that the Port of Brisbane and industrial development has on land cover. Through a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and interactive lessons, students examine how human activities are reshaping natural environments and gain insight into the long-term effects on biodiversity, ecosystems and the community.
As part of this program, students will also learn about the important steps the Port of Brisbane is taking to manage and mitigate its impact on land cover. The Port has implemented numerous sustainability initiatives, such as habitat restoration projects, land rehabilitation programs, and innovative management practices to help preserve local ecosystems while supporting the region's growth. These efforts ensure that the Port continues to expand responsibly, minimising its environmental footprint and helping protect the rich biodiversity of the area.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Port of Brisbane for their continued support of this program. Their partnership enables us to deliver high-quality, real-world learning experiences that connect students with critical environmental issues. Their ongoing commitment to fostering environmental education and their efforts to manage the impact of their operations are invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for their contribution to the success of this program.
We're looking forward to an inspiring term full of learning, exploration, and a shared passion for environmental stewardship. Here's to a fantastic start to 2025!
