The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Moreton Bay EEC have enjoyed a long and wonderful partnership, bringing history to life for thousands of students over the years.
Our partnership programs of History in a Box (Yr 3), St Helena Stories (Yr 5), Immigration (Yr 6) and Returned WWI (Yr 9) offer an immersive dive into history, learning on sites of local cultural and historical significance. Fort Lytton and St Helena Island National Parks form the background for these programs, providing authentic experiences of events and stories from the past that have shaped our present day life in Brisbane.
From the Bombardier, to convicts, wardens, immigration officers, immigrants, soldiers and nurses, these are the range of characters that are brought to life by our talented Museum Theatre actors. Creating genuine historical authenticity and appreciation is the outcome.
Teacher feedback on our Immigration program: Thank you once again for the wonderful excursions our Year 6 students participated in recently! Our students and teachers really enjoyed the experience and the learning that was generated. One of my students thought the actors were real immigrants - didn't realise they were acting!!!
