On Friday, 10 June, Moreton Bay EEC was proud to host the inaugural Quandamooka Culture in Community Coolamon Awards for the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector.
Aunty Merle & Kate Maccoll from the Metro ECEC team presented the Coolamon Award to the Goodstart Early Learning Childcare Centre (Wynnum West). Shannon and her team were so excited to receive the award and it was fantastic to learn how the Goodstart team are inspiring others every day and making a difference at their Centre.
The Metropolitan Quandamooka Culture in Community initiative enables the successful building of cultural safety in ECECs, schools and broader community. The initiative brings together early childhood providers, schools and community organisations to:
- foster an enriched appreciation of Australia's cultural heritage for ALL children and families; and
- facilitate a collaborative approach toward creating a culturally safe and secure community.
