Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre is a vibrant and progressive Department of Education day visit centre at Manly on the edge of beautiful Moreton Bay. Our vision is ‘Inspiring Champions for the Bay’ – these are individuals who have developed a deep connection to Moreton Bay and actively care for its future.
We aim to do this by:
providing opportunities for students to explore their place within the bay through immersion in natural, built and cultural places;
utilising history, story and drama to acknowledge the 'Champions' of the past;
facilitating programs where students collaborate with the 'Champions' of today through community action and environmental monitoring; and
inspiring the 'Champions' of tomorrow through Environmental Education with an explicit focus on science, history and geography.
Our state of the art facilities are an integral part of our programs and their delivery. They include:
Inspiration - a 12 metre aluminium catamaran that can transport up to 60 passengers or have 40 students actively working on board on a variety of projects.
Janjari - a 5.8 metre rigid inflatable that can transport up to 11 passengers through the inshore areas of Moreton Bay or five passengers further afield.
Our land based centre – a 6 star, Greenstar designed sustainable centre with landscaped outdoor areas.
