First Nations students from Wynnum State High School had the enriching opportunity to engage in cultural immersion led by Quandamooka Cultural Officer, Matt Burns and Moreton Bay EEC teachers.

Throughout the session, Matt captivated the students with ancestral stories and time-honoured practices that have endured for thousands of years. Matt showcased traditional tools and weaponry, explaining their significance in daily life. From demonstrating fire-starting techniques to playing the didgeridoo, and teaching spear throwing, Matt provided a comprehensive understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditions. Students loved learning about and participating in traditional dances.

This experience not only deepened the students' respect for their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage but allowed them to connect with Quandamooka Country in a special and unforgettable way.

Thank you, Matt, for always being so generous with your time and knowledge.
