On Wednesday, 29 October, Moreton Bay EEC hosted a Community and Partners Celebration.

The afternoon brought together our local schools, partner organisations, and colleagues to celebrate the strong relationships that underpin the Centre's programs and initiatives. Each partnership - whether with schools, community organisations, government agencies, or cultural leaders - has played a vital role in enriching student learning and deepening understanding of our shared environment and heritage.

We were honoured to welcome Aunty Becky Thomson OAM, a respected Quandamooka Elder and Chair of the Winnam Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Corporation, as our special guest. Aunty Becky's granddaughter, Kalani, delivered a heartfelt Welcome to Country and they shared reflections on the enduring importance of community, culture, and connection to place. Kaitlin Lee from Yura Consultancy also reflected on the significance of embedding Indigenous perspectives within education and community partnerships, highlighting the value of ongoing collaboration to strengthen cultural understanding and reconciliation in local contexts.

The event also highlighted collaborative projects that shaped the year, acknowledging the individuals and organisations who contributed to meaningful learning experiences.

Moreton Bay EEC was once again privileged and grateful to receive the generous ongoing support of the Port of Brisbane. This funding will make a significant difference in inspiring the next generation of environmental leaders. Our heartfelt thanks go to Ed Harwood and the entire Port of Brisbane team - a truly valued and treasured partner.

The celebration was a wonderful reminder of the strength and impact of community collaboration. Moreton Bay EEC extends sincere thanks to all who contribute their time, expertise, and support to enrich student learning and foster deeper connections to our environment, history and culture. Together, we continue to build a network of partnerships that inspire curiosity, respect for Country, and a shared commitment to creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
