Year 07 - Water in our world

WebPartZone1_1
PublishingPageContent
Water in our World is a day program in which students adopt the role of Geographers to collect and analyse data to understand the implications that the movement of water has on the environment and how some of these impacts can be sustainably managed.
Across the day Geographers evaluate the water quality of two sites: Wynnum Creek and Moreton Bay (Quandamooka). At Wynnum Creek they complete a riparian assessment and conduct water quality testing experiments to evaluate the creeks condition and ability to cope with extreme weather events, such as floods.
On board our vessel, Inspiration they conduct water testing and seagrass mapping to understand how water quality from catchments can influence the health of seagrass and water quality in Moreton Bay. The Geographers are also privileged to have an Environment Officer presentation from the Port of Brisbane presentation providing valuable information on management strategies currently used to improve water quality across the Brisbane Catchment.

* Program itinerary is developed in consultation with schools.
