PublishingPageContent

Living by the Bay is a day program immersing students in a sensory exploration of Moreton Bay. Super Scientists become familiar with scientific language and activate their senses through a series of rotational activities.

Super Scientists put their sensory skills into practice by exploring a terrestrial garden environment and venturing out onto the Wynnum foreshore to observe and identify living and non-living things. Super Scientists investigate needs of organisms they discover.

During training and explorations, Super Scientists gain hands-on experience as they use microscopes, eye loupes (magic eyes), and sensory materials.

The program concludes with a reflection on the needs of living things and discussions around care of habitats. The Super Scientists, as a result of their training and field work are recognised as being 'Champions for the Bay'.
