Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre is a vibrant and progressive Department of Education school committed to inspiring students, staff, partners and the community. Our talented centre staff, in collaboration with distinguished partners, design, promote and deliver highly effective programs for schools P-12, international students, universities and the community.

Innovative school programs are linked to the Australian Curriculum and are offered across 15 unique locations to ensure students connect to place and engage in authentic learning experiences to become ‘Champions for the Bay’.

Moreton Bay comprises a vast array of marine habitats, plants and animals including some of Australia’s premier wetlands. Moreton Bay EEC’s vessel, Inspiration, enables focused access to sites within Moreton Bay and on the Brisbane River. The Port of Brisbane, including its bird hide, Wynnum mangrove boardwalk and Manly and Wellington Point foreshores are key geographical and scientific locations for study. Historical program sites include St Helena Island National Park, Fort Lytton National Park and Newstead House. We ensure students are able to connect to these unique environments and work with partners resulting in authentic and enhanced student learning in science, history and geography.

We are proud of our focussed results to date. Moreton Bay EEC was proud to be the State Winner of the Department of Education's 2022 Showcase Awards for Excellence in Schools: The Queensland Teachers' Union Showcase Award for Excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education - Building Cultural Understanding and Capabilities on Quandamooka Country. In 2018 the centre received the Healthy Land and Water Sustainable Education Award for Inspiring Bay Champions through STEM. The Department of Education and Training 2017 Showcase Awards saw Moreton Bay EEC, along with Toohey Forest and Brisbane Urban EECs and SPARQ-ed, announced as State Winner for Industry Partnerships for the STEM Horizons for High Achievers program. The centre was part of the Wynnum Manly school education alliance cluster that was awarded the Department of Education and Training 2016 Leadership Team of the Year. Additionally we were delighted to achieve a High Commendation for the 2016 Premiers Sustainability Award and were finalists for the Healthy Waterways Sustainable Education Award in 2014 and 2015 for Students on-board for MangroveWatch and Bunya-to-the-Bay EcoAdventure.

I encourage you to discover for yourself why Moreton Bay EEC excels by offering outstanding and unique learning opportunities for students, staff and our community.

Ms Dianne Aylward
