Situated at the mouth of the Brisbane River, the Port of Brisbane is one of Australia's fastest-growing container ports and Queensland's largest multi-cargo facility. With busy shipping lanes, massive cranes, and bustling operations, the port offers students a unique opportunity to explore how human activity interacts with the natural environment. The Port of Brisbane is committed to sustainability – considering stakeholders and ensuring the decisions made enable the Port to be 'Here for the Future'.

In the Senior program Port of Brisbane Studies – Landcover Transformations, and Overboard and Underwater programs, students take on the role of environmental investigators. They collect real data to examine changes in land use, assess environmental impacts, and observe how port operations coexist with surrounding ecosystems. By exploring both the industrial and natural sides of the port, students gain hands-on experience in environmental monitoring and develop a deeper understanding of sustainability in a working harbour.
